Our asthma diagnosis pathway:

We are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate services to help your GP practice diagnose respiratory conditions and assess lung functions.

Our asthma diagnosis pathway includes advanced FeNO (Fractional Exhales Nitric Oxide) and Spirometry testing.

FeNO

  • FeNO testing is a non-invasive, quick, and simple method to detect airway inflammation, helping in diagnosing asthma more accurately, monitoring the effectiveness of asthma treatment, and differentiating between asthma and other respiratory conditions.
  • FeNO tests can be tested on patients aged 5 years +
  • We offer FeNo testing at Buckhurst Way Clinic every Wednesday and Saturday.

Spirometry

  • Spirometry is a common pulmonary function test used to help diagnose and monitor certain lung conditions by measuring how much air you can breathe out in one forced breath
  • Spirometry can be tested on patients aged 16 years +
  • We offer appointments for Spirometry at Buckhurst Way Clinic every Saturday.

Spring 2024 COVID-19 Vaccine Programme

Our Vaccine Clinic:

We are continuing to offer a walk-in service for COVID-19 jabs at Buckhurst Way Clinic – unfortunately, we can no longer offer Flu jabs. To get a flu vaccine, please visit your local pharmacy.

Our vaccine clinic is open at the following times:

Saturday: 9:30 – 16:30.

Who’s eligible?

  • COVID-19 is more serious in older people and in people with certain underlying health conditions.
  • For these reasons, people aged 75 years and over (including those will be 75 by June 2024), those in care homes, and those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system are being offered a spring dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Well-being Wednesdays:

Last autumn, the PCN held free weekly health and well-being talks and taster activities for those registered with any of our GP practices. Ranging from meditation sessions and yoga to aerobics and boxercise workouts, each week sought to engage the community whilst providing opportunities to explore new activities and hobbies. They also featured mental health workshops led by a mental health practitioner, which provided valuable information about how to overcome and manage stress, anxiety, and worry, inclusive to the whole community.

Our Community Gardening Initiative:

Last summer, the PCN collaborated with local partners and the community to undertake a gardening project from July-September in Buckhurst Way Clinic. The project provided a space for the community to connect and work towards the common goal of growing fresh produce and foliage, promoting healthy eating habits and allowing people to relax, reduce stress, and partake in bettering the environment.

The project concluded with everyone coming together for a barbecue to grill and savour the fresh vegetables that had been grown over the course of weeks.

Our Wellbeing walk:

Our PCN-organised wellbeing walks cooperate with local community partners to help the community socialise and connect with each other whilst promoting physical and mental well-being.

The pictures above show our May Wellbeing Walk from Buckhurst Way Clinic to Roding Valley, during Mental Health Awareness week, in which the chosen theme was ‘anxiety.’ Approximately 24 individuals took part and expressed their enjoyment and satisfaction with the event.

‘What was also refreshing was to meet like-minded people who are all going through their own issues, such as anxiety, rehabilitation, loneliness, amongst other issues. This event brought us all together, and the walk was very therapeutic.’ – Participant from Loughton.
